So one of the exciting things that took place this week was getting our federal tax refund sooner than we expected. And with those funds we decided to "reward" ourselves with new cell phones. So Saturday we went out to the cell phone store and played with all the different phones there and we both decided on the new Droid. And the only reason "we" decided on that particular phone is because I know absolutely nothing about cell phones so it has become the norm that I get the same phone that Ross does and then he just teaches me how to use it. So needless to say this weekend has been fairly unproductive except for trying to figure out how these new devices work. And after owning them for 1 day, so far they have been pretty fun and can do quite a few things.
Back in September after we got settled in and found a church we liked, we joined a small study group for Young Married Couples that meet once a week. The meeting last week and tonight focused on communication within the marriage. So tonight the group made a field trip to the Ace Hardware store for a scavenger hunt. The way it worked was that the husbands would stand outside the store with a list of 20 different items from the store and would talk to their wives on their cell phones who were inside the store trying to find as many items on the list as possible within 10 mins. But the catch was that the guys could only describe the items without actually saying what the items were. Out of the 6 couples we tied for first, but we should have won because there was some miss-communication as to what a certain item on the list was (not that either of us are competitive). Overall we had an awesome time and learned that we do a pretty good job of communicating with each other.
Looking ahead this week are a couple events going on. On Monday, Ross is meeting with one of his professors to discuss a summer externship possibility with a criminal attorney. On Thursday, the school is putting on a charity event for Multiple Sclerosis that we are going to attend. There is supposed to be live music, a comedian, and a special guest from the TV show CSI:Las Vegas! We are both looking forward to that. I think Ross is also looking forward to getting through this coming week only because Spring Break is next week so he will have some time to both catch up one some work and have some time to relax.

Valentine's Day
Well yet again it's been two weeks since I last posted something. I thought I was doing good by posting twice in one week but I guess not. Well, here is a recap of the last two weeks. For Valentine's Day, the plan was to just have dinner at home and relax without getting each other gifts. Well everything was going to plan until Ross said that we "didn't have everything we needed for dinner". Needless to say he came back home with not only a bouquet of lilies and a box of chocolates, but he also got me a mini rose plant so I will always have roses and 8 bottles of wine to restock my wine rack! And for dinner we had homemade fondue which was tons of fun. Like always, Valentine's Day was a lot of fun. I took some pictures of our dinner spread and my flowers that I will post later.
School for Ross has certainly been a lot busier this semester than last semester but time sure is flying. Two more weeks and it will be spring break. Unfortunately we don't have any big plans since I was only able to get the Wed and Thurs off during his spring break. But at least it will be a couple days off that we can enjoy together.
Work for me has not been the most enjoyable. Here is the quick version of what I do at work. I work in a call center for Wells Fargo that deals with auto loans. So I answer 100 plus calls a day in regards to auto loans and we are monitored or scored/graded on 1 call per week. Each month we have the opportunity to earn a bonus at varying levels based on 4 categories. I was right on track to score the highest amount of points and earn the highest bonus that is paid out ($450). That was until I was docked points for not asking for the correct telephone number. With each phone call we take we have to verify each customer by having them verify their address and phone number. And we have to ask for the phone number twice. So I asked for the address and phone number and then asked for an alternate phone number. And that is where I got docked points. I got docked for asking for an ALTERNATE phone number when I was supposed to ask for a WORK phone number. And you might be saying that you can kind of see the difference between the two questions. Well here is the kicker....I have been asking for the ALTERNATE phone number for almost 2 months and this is the ONLY time they have docked or taken away points. So needless to say I was a little upset. And to add to the work frustration, Wells Fargo won't let you transfer to another department until you have been in your current position for 12 months! I had found a different position within the company that I wanted to apply to but I needed my managers approval for it, but I was denied that approval. The only way my manager would approve a job transfer for me is if I have child care issues or am being harassed at work. How much sense does that make?? And all this news came in the same week. So this past week was an emotional one in the Wood household. Thankfully Ross is very understanding and very patient when it comes to my venting and emotional changes.
A couple things to look forward to is Spring Break for Ross and a visit towards the end of March from Shaun and his girlfriend Amanda. It will be nice to see family again, even if it is only for a few days.

Another weekend has come and gone and it feels like nothing was accomplished. On Friday, Ross called and accepted the position for the fall internship with the Orange County DA's Office! So that was some more exciting news. I think this internship is going to be a great experience for him.
On Saturday, we went up north to UCLA (University California, Los Angeles) where there was a huge Law Event being held. The way Ross explains the event is that it was a huge Public Interest even were there were booths or tables setup where students could get information on different ares of law that only serve the public interest. I tagged along so I could get out of the house but boy did I stand out since I was the only person walking around there not dressed in a suit. But it was still interesting to sit in on one of the Criminal Law discussions and listen to some of the Public Defenders and District Attorneys talk about their jobs, what's involved in the work they do and how they got there. I think it just confirmed more for Ross that the criminal field is really where he wants to focus.
Today we went to a Super Bowl party at some friend's house that we met through church. It was nice to get out and enjoy some food and fun and watch the Saints win! However, with both Saturday and Sunday being filled with events that took up most of the day, nothing really got down around the house. I guess that just means more to do next weekend!

Good News!!
If you remember from the last post, Ross had an interview last week with the Orange County DA's office for an internship position for the summer. They were doing interviews at 9 different schools total for only 3 or 4 positions. Well, today he received a phone call from the DNA department and was offered an internship position with them during the Fall! He is going to contact them this week to find out more details on the position and what is involved. He was hoping to get something for the summer but we are both still excited that he was offered something for the fall. It's a great experience and a prefect place to start networking,. We have our fingers crossed that he will get an internship during the summer so he has something to do while he is not in school.
